The goal of this design task was to produce two books with identical copy, one following a modern typographical design, the other traditional with only raw, unformatted text as a starting point.

Throughout this exercise, I studied a variety of books in order to identify and understand the typographical characteristics that defined these two styles.

I came to realise, the most important typographical elements in a publication were: Space, order, hierarchy and relationship to image. My approach on using these principles would reflect the appearance of the finished book.
